Symantec Endpoint Protection and Norton AntiVirus 2009- which is better ?
In Symantec Endpoint Protection will I have to remember scan everything (cds, pendrives) manually or will it do it automatically and will it monitor my PC all the time like Norton Antivirus 2009. it’s much convenient that’s why I’m asking.
Also what about updating will it update automatically or manually?
HAS Symantec Endpoint Protection got real-time protection ??
I use NIS2009, great application.
Check on Symantec web site and it will compare the features of both applications.
All scans and updates can be set to manual or auto in either product.

which one should i use?
and should i buy it for my company?

and i wanted to know does it work with the symantec antivirus enterprise
Several things I think you can do to help reduce your chance of getting the bug. Norton Anti Virus and its Internet security will work. It comes with anti spyware. Also, if you are using Windows XP, they have the Windows Defender and is free. It screens out a lot of stuff stuff as well. You should buy the multiple user license. That way you know you have one consistant system. More importantly, it starts from within in as far as your policy for computer usage is concerned.
I used to have a 200 computer network and we took all the floppy as well as CD drives away. If any one needs anything they will put it through the IT department and we will install whatever they need. This prevents anything from getting into our system through the back door. The last thing we want is for someone to bring an infected CD from their home computer and infect us that way. If they have files at home, they can email them back and forth through email and your anti virus at your server should catch the funny stuff if any.
Have a clear cut policy as to under what circumstances employees are allowed to go to the internet such as shopping, porn sites, games and anything that is not job related. Those are you major source of problems.
Also, with a 20 desk top network, your are probably too large not to treat you system as a major function. On the other hand, you are probable too small to have an IT person on staff. You may consider bringing someone from outside on a fee basis and do an reveiw of your operations and set it up properly. The configuration of you hook up may increase or reduce your security level.

Keeping Your Computer Running Smoothly
Free Report: Keeping Your Computer Running Smoothly
By: Tami Weimer
Whether your using Windows 9598, Win ME, XP or Vista, there are several ways to keep your computer running smoothly. These methods are exactly what I use on my own computer.
First, I clear out my temp files, cookies, history, recycle bin and even passwords (if you choose to do so) by clicking; Start, Control Panel and typing in search box…internet options. When the Internet Options box appears, click View.
You will be able to see how many cookies are stored on your computer. You can also set your computer to accept the amount of disk space to allow cookies to be stored. I set mine to 275MB. That seems to be efficient for me.
Click delete. With Vista, you can delete all at once. If you have any other version, you must delete them individually.
Second, I use a Free registry cleaner for Vista. You can get yours at www.registrycleanerforvista.com. If you have other versions of Windows, try Eusing Registry Cleaner. Also completely free…www.eusing.com. Works on all Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP/2003 computers. I run my cleaner at least once a week. This usually clears up any problems with freezing, slow running, slow browsing and corrects corrupt files from installing and uninstalling programs.
Third, I run Windows Update, to make sure my computers programs and system files are all up to date. That is very important to keeping your computer running smoothly.
Fourth, I run my antivirus and update it consistantly. I set my computer to run a systems check every other day automaticly. You can do this by clicking Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools and finally, Task scheduler. Here you can adjust how often and when you want your computer to run various utility programs such as scandisk, disk defragmenter, disk clean-up and system restore. I personally use Norton. You can get yours by going to www.symantec.com. It is not free but it is the best antivirus program Ive ever used. If you prefer a free antivirus program, you can get one at www.grisoft.com. They have trial versions and completely free “AVGfree” versions.
You can also help protect your online experience by purchasing a “firewall”. I use Windows Defender that came with my computer. It disguises your online appearance to hackers for safer browsing. We will have more on this and security issues in the upcoming reports.
Implementing these tips into your daily routine will keep your computer running smoothly. Happy Surfing!
Dont forget to visit often for more resources and solutions to all your computer needs.
Thank you,
Tami Weimer

How To Remove Norton Antivirus Completely
There are millions of software programs and more than 10,000 active malware, developed to infect these programs. Consequently, every day we find thousands of new infections. To avoid this problem, numerous anti-viruses are evolved.
Norton is one of such antivirus software which is considered a complete package of malware removal and scanning software.
There are many benefits of installing Norton Antivirus on PC but this software installation is linked up with many drawbacks too. Some of the negative features of installing Norton Antivirus are –
. This is a paid antivirus while nowadays you may find numbers of quality antivirus which are available for free.
. It is experienced that Norton Antivirus can have conflicts with other programs and hardware installed in PC.
. Norton antivirus also reduces PC speed.
Such negative features are the most prominent reasons which make users to remove Norton Antivirus from their PC. If you too are tempted to remove Norton Antivirus from your PC, follow the procedures –
. Go to Start Menu
. Click on Control Panel and then Double Click on ‘Add or Remove Programs’
. Find the Norton or Symantec A product you currently have installed, for example, Double Click on it.
. You will then be prompted to modify your current Norton Installation. Choose to “Remove All”
. Your program will be removed at this point. After removal, you will be prompted to reboot your computer. . Now remove Norton Antivirus using ‘Norton Removal Tool.’
This is the simple procedure that helps you to remove Norton Antivirus but there are moments when you would not be able to uninstall Norton Antivirus easily. In such situation, you can work in accordance with instructions which are mentioned below –

Norton 360 will not run, ad-aware finds multiple infections, what do i do?
Hi there,
I have a problem, a few weeks ago my boyfriend’s computer has slowed down considerably and 3 days ago it went insane. What is happening:
- HP installer keeps popping up
- something called Malware Alarm keeps appearing even when I uninstall it.
- there are files on it that were never installed.
- Some popups show up telling me to buy spyware and other stuff.
- IE opens webpages without being told to.
So I went and bought Norton 360. Installed it, but the program runs for a couple minutes and gives me “Norton 360 process has stopped running. Please Restart your computer.” after which message Norton does not work. I asked for help the symantec support but they keep telling me to use Norton Removal Tool and reinstall it. I did. 4 times. Same thing over again.
So I downloaded Ad-Aware, disconnected the LAN and scanned the computer. Got 1158 infections. Removed them. So this morning I run Ad-Aware again and I get 113 infections. HELP??
The FIRST thing to do is DISABLE System Restore.
If enabled, this allows malware to hide in the computer and re-install itself.
To disable it, RIGHT-click on “My Computer.” Select “Properties” then under the ‘System Restore’ tab, check ‘Turn off system restore’ IF not already checked.
The next most helpful things that would help you are to use ONLINE scanners from websites to remove any malware on your PC.
The current best online scanners I prefer are from Kaspersky antivirus and Bitdefender antivirus. Together, these 2 scanners will find ALL the bad stuff on your PC because they have the BEST detection rate.
First, use Kaspersky’s. (FYI: ALL these scans require you to agree to a EULA and install an activex control which is needed to perform the scan, so agree to them all.)
*NOTE: Some scanners ONLY work with IE or may not fully remove malware
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.htm
There are MANY other online scanners you may like such as:
http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/
http://www.housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/
After using these, it’s ESSENTIAL to install at least 3 antispywares. Do NOT use more than 1 antiVIRUS or firewall as they conflict.
The best things in life are FREE, and great free software can be found @:
Superantispyware.com (Superantispyware FREE version)
lavasoft.com (Ad-aware)
emsisoft.com (A-squared FREE)
safer-networking.org (Spybot S&D)
javacoolsoftware.com (SpywareBlaster, EULAlyzer, & MRU-Blaster)
microsoft.com (Windows Defender)
avira.com (Avira AV)
activevirusshield.com (Basically Kaspersky for free)
siteadvisor.com (Tells you how safe websites are)
phoenixlabs.org (Blocks malware, government, and anti-p2p org’s)
zonealarm.com (Top Notch Firewall)
comodo.com (Another Top Notch firewall)
iobit.com (Advanced Windows Care)
Eusing.com (Registry cleaner)
ccleaner.com (Junk file cleaner)
Now if you can afford it, the best software to BUY are:
Spy Sweeper (VERY much worth the $$$)
Security Task Manager
Norton Internet Security
Kaspersky (BEST! =D )
Bitdefender (2nd BEst!)
F-secure (Same as Kaspersky)
Linkscanner (Blocks exploits in real time)
Advanced Uninstaller
If there’s ever ONE file you suspect is infected, you can try some single file scanners which use MULTIPLE engines to scan ONE file.
They are @ virusscan.jotti.org or virustotal.com
If you’re PC is squeaky clean, re-enable system restore because it IS good to have but we needed to shut it off to wipe out the malware.
Just RIGHT-click on “My Computer.” Select “Properties” then under the ‘System Restore’ tab, UN-check “Turn off system restore.”
*Another thing to consider is using another browser besides Internet Explorer. It has a lot of security holes,
making it less safe. I prefer Firefox from mozilla.org.
It’s easy to use, FAST, and has a lot of neat little add-ons you can toy around with. It is also safer from exploits than IE.*
As always, things will vary. I just hope the best for everybody. I’m bound to get some jealous thumbs-down but there’s only one way to find things out—try it!
Keep an UPDATED Antivirus, Antispyware, & firewall and things will be fine. And always browse wisely.
As a side note, please email me any/all websites you got the infection from or if any are popping up or hijacking you so I can help further security software’s measures.
Sometimes you may get a NEW and Unknown malware and I can submit it to be blacklisted/investigated to security companies.
Hope I was able to help. If I have, please consider returning & leaving a nice comment and
“Best Answer” to whomever you thinks deserves it…

The Need to Uninstall a Symantec Oem Software
With the numerous types and classifications of virus and spam these days, there is indeed a need to install antivirus software in your computer. If you are quite familiar with the installation process, you should know by now that one of the best protection software you could purchase and install is Symantec. Thus, it is also natural that there are many new units of computer products that are already installed with Symantec OEM software.
Many users of the Symantec OEM software could attest that indeed, the computer program is one of the most useful there are in the market. For sure, you have encountered Symantec OEM software at one point in your life, especially during the times when you were so anxious and worrisome over the spread of some notorious virus. Symantec OEM software has made its way to become among the most popular antivirus and protection computer programs available in the market.
Problems with updating
Symantec, the company behind the development and distribution of the software, admits that there are several loopholes and limitations to the use of the popular Symantec OEM software. One of the most usual problems is the difficulties and shortages in regular updating. If you have been using other antivirus and protection software, you should be exposed to the updating process, which regularly happens and initiates especially upon exposure and connection to the Internet.
Though there are new and more sophisticated versions of the Symantec OEM software, the old versions are definitely having problems with the regular update processes. Those old versions are not updating themselves. Because everyday, there are more additional and new viruses and threats circulating in the cyber space, there is a need for updates on antivirus software. That is the disadvantage of buying and installing older Symantec OEM software versions.
The need to uninstall
Because of the problem in the updating process, there is often a need to uninstall the old version of the Symantec OEM software. If you are aiming to install a newer version of the computer program, there is a need to remove the installed copy in your PC system. However, if you are trying to do so, you would find that the procedure is not an easy one.
Thus, there is a need for computer users of the Symantec OEM software to learn the process of correct and proper uninstallation of the program. The uninstall process is not as easy and convenient as the process of installation. If you would take time, you would find that it is also possible to uninstall a Symantec OEM software remotely.
The simple process
Manual uninstallation is as easy as opening a Website designated to carry out and facilitate the process. Log in to the uninstall registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMICROSOFT WINDOWSCURRENT VERSIONUNINSTALL and see for yourself how the process can be made easier, more effective and more accurate. There would be dialog boxes that would appear afterwards. Just go with the flow and resolve to uninstall, no matter what.
The process would also involve some reboot. There are passwords to be asked, so just provide the requirements. If you could not remember any of the passwords asked, just log in to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREINTELLANDesk VirusProtect6CurrentVersionAdministratorOnlySecurity and see how the process can be pursued. Set the passwords to ‘zero’. In a matter of several minutes, you would find yourself finally going to the path to uninstall the computer program.
Remote uninstallation is also possible in the Symantec OEM software. In the command prompt, just type:
psexec \computer_name MsiExec.exe /norestart
/q/x{BA4B71D1-898E-4306-AE87-8BA7A596F0ED} REMOVE=ALL.
Be surprised to observe that the software is finally removed even if the computer is still being used at the moment by another user.
