Black wash for finishing touch?
Hi
I would like to black wash jet fighter for finishing touch like this shown in this link:
http://www.tamiya.com/english/howto/car1/tip3.htm
But Since neither the enamel flat black nor the enamel thinner available in my local hobby store ,I would like to know is there any alternative ways to do this & get the same result, once I suggest to use Tamiya Paint Marker Pens because they are enamel colors but my local hobby store didn’t recommended that .
I hope to hear from you any suggestions especially from someone that had tried alternative ways & worked very well.
Thanks
Not knowing the type of paint used for the base colour (acrylic or enamel) make sure the thinners for your wash does not attack the base colour paint.
The base paint finish must be gloss before you can apply the wash otherwise, you will end up staining the finish with a darker shade. The best time to do it is after applying your decals and letting them set.
I use artist’s oils thinned in white spirit and using a very thin long bristled brush, I apply it along the panel lines and let capillary action take the thinned solution along the groove. The base colour for these examples are acrylic and once the wash is done, I spray the whole model with a clear matt/flat to seal everything in.
