Over the past few weeks, gas prices went from $2.86 to $3.05. Find this percent change and state whether it is a percent increase or percent decrease.

24% = 0.24

0.24 * x = 720

x = 720 / 0.24 = 3000

Percent increase = 100% * (New – Old) / Old

100% * (125 – 95) / 95

100% * 0.316

31.6%
