Dynamic Drive Overlay Software
Dynamic Drive Overlay Software

Files that are a few kilobytes showing up as a terabyte or more? What the hell? Something to do with DDO?
Furthermore… windows won’t boot and the “dynamic drive overlay” banner that I used to see has vanished… So I’m wanting to say that it has something to do with DDO. Any suggestions? It’s windows ME, which I hate but my mom likes it. Any software that corrects issues like this?
The disk is a maxtor 200 gig drive.
Thanks in advance.
Cause
———
Mis reporting file size should be cause by partial FAT32 corruption. It is cause by power off the PC without shutting down Windows.
Solution 1
—————-
Boot to command prompt, and run “chkdsk c: /f”
This legacy program will check and fix FAT32 corruption. Please perform a backup of partition that you are fixing.
I assume the corrupted FAT32 is causing drive C. If it is other drive, please substitute the drive letter in the command
Solution 2
—————
Boot into Windows, and run Scandisk from Accessory folder. You must have plenty of RAM (512 MB and above) to let the program complete the check, and fixes, else the program will looping none stop
Solution 3
—————-
Install fresh Windows, and all softwares. Prior of new installation, backup e-mail, address book, data files, bookmarks, etc. Ensure you have all the software handy as well as all device drivers.
Depending on the installation CD-ROM, some edition will format the partition. Let the installation program format the partition that has FAT32 corruption, else skip it.
Format the partition that has FAT32 corruption, if it is not drive C. This can be done before, or after Windows installation. Please note that this will delete all the data residing in the partition.
This is the cleanest approach, but takes longest.
