History
The primary motivations for HID were to enable innovation in PC input devices and simplify the process of installing these devices. Prior to HID, devices usually conformed to very narrowly defined protocols for mice, keyboards and joysticks (for example the standard mouse protocol at the time supported relative X and Y axis data and binary input for up to two buttons). Any innovation in hardware required overloading the use of data in an existing protocol or creation of custom device drivers and evangelization of a new protocol to application developers. By contrast all HID devices deliver self describing packages that may contain an infinite variety of data types and formats. A single HID driver on the PC parses the data and enables dynamic association of data I/O with application functionality. This has enabled rapid innovation and proliferation of new human interface devices.
The HID standard was developed by a working committee with representatives from several companies and the list of participants can be found in the “Device Class Definition for Human Interface Devices (HID)” document. The concept of a self describing extensible protocol was initially conceived by Mike Van Flandern and Manolito Adan working on a project named Raptor at Microsoft and independently by Steve McGowan working on a device protocol for Access Bus while at Forte. After comparing notes at a Consumer Game Developer Conference, Steve and Mike agreed to collaborate on a new standard for the emerging Universal Serial Bus.

Most operating systems will recognize standard USB HID devices, like keyboards and mice, without needing a special driver. When installed, a message saying that a “HID-compliant device” has been recognized generally appears on screen. In comparison, this message does not usually appear for devices connected via the PS/2 6-pin DIN connectors which preceded USB. PS/2 does not support plug-and-play, which means that connecting a PS/2 keyboard or mouse with the computer powered on does not always work. In addition, PS/2 does not support the HID protocol. A USB HID is described by the USB human interface device class.
Components of the HID protocol
In the HID protocol, there are 2 entities: the “host” and the “device”. The device is the entity that directly interacts with a human, such as a keyboard or mouse. The host communicates with the device and receives input data from the device on actions performed by the human. Output data flows from the host to the device and then to the human. The most common example of a host is a computer but some cell phones and PDAs also can be hosts.
The HID protocol makes implementation of devices very simple. Devices define their data packets and then present a “HID descriptor” to the host. The HID descriptor is a hard coded array of bytes that describe the device’s data packets. This includes: how many packets the device supports, how large are the packets, and the purpose of each byte and bit in the packet. For example, a keyboard with a calculator program button can tell the host that the button’s pressed/released state is stored as the 2nd bit in the 6th byte in data packet number 4 (note: these locations are only illustrative and are device specific). The device typically stores the HID descriptor in ROM and does not need to intrinsically understand or parse the HID descriptor. Some mouse and keyboard hardware in the market today are implemented using only an 8-bit CPU.
The host is expected to be a more complex entity than the device. The host needs to retrieve the HID descriptor from the device and parse it before it can fully communicate with the device. Parsing the HID descriptor can be complicated. Multiple operating systems are known to have shipped bugs in the device drivers responsible for parsing the HID descriptors years after the device drivers were originally released to the public. However, this complexity is the reason why rapid innovation with HID devices is possible.
The above mechanism describes what is known as HID “report protocol”. Because it was understood that not all hosts would be capable of parsing HID descriptors, HID also defines “boot protocol”. In boot protocol, only specific devices are supported with only specific features because fixed data packet formats are used. The HID descriptor is not used in this mode so innovation is limited. However, the benefit is that minimal functionality is still possible on hosts that otherwise would be unable to support HID. The only devices supported in boot protocol are
Keyboard Any of the first 256 key codes (“Usages”) defined in the HID Usage Tables, Usage Page 7 can be reported by a keyboard using the boot protocol, but most systems only handle a subset of these keys. Most systems support all 104 keys on the IBM AT-101 layout, plus the three new keys designed for Microsoft Windows 95. Many systems also support additional keys on basic western European 105-, Korean 106-, Brazilian ABNT 107- and Japanese DOS/V 109-key layouts. Buttons, knobs and keys that are not reported on Usage Page 7 are not available. For example, a particular US keyboard’s QWERTY keys will function but the Calculator and Logoff keys will not because they are defined on Usage Page 12 and cannot be reported in boot protocol.

HID definition of a device
According to the HID specification, a device is described, during the report mode, as a set of controls or group of controls. Controls are matched by a field containing the data, and another containing a usage tag. Each usage tag is described in the spec as the constructor suggested use of the data described in the report mode.
Other protocols using HID
Since HID’s original definition over USB, HID is now also used in other computer communication buses. This enables HID devices that traditionally were only found on USB to also be used on alternative buses. This is done since existing support for USB HID devices can typically be adapted much faster than having to invent an entirely new protocol to support mice, keyboards, and the like. how to get a rc helicopter to stop spinning?
Hi a E-Flite blade 400 3D was given to me by someone that did not know how to fly it and it had a few problems that I fixed but now when I push up the throttle on the heli the body starts to spin how can I stop that?
There should be a trim adjustment somewhere on the controller close to whatever you would use to turn left or right. Adjusting that should solve the problem. Basically, on a normal helicopter, turning like you described is counteracted by the small tail rotor. So, if your helicopter doesn’t have a tail rotor it probably has two on top, one on top of the other, and they would need to spin the same speed in order to not have your helicoptor’s body spinning when you take off. If adjusting the trim doesn’t work, I would check to make sure the blades on the rotor’s are all intact and that there isn’t anything stuck on the rotor shaft that might slow one of them down. Early life
Jenkees began playing music at 4 years old, when he received a toy keyboard for Christmas as a gift. Using this keyboard, he learned simple melodies and played with friends. While still at a young age, he received a Yamaha PSR-500. He attempted piano lessons in the seventh grade, but these were unsuccessful. Jenkees discovered how to sequence and layer music using his Yamaha keyboard, and began playing hip hop music. He joined a marching band in high school, and despite being unable to read sheet music, the band director let Jenkees create his own keyboard parts and “jam out” in state competitions. The band director encouraged Jenkees to learn to read music, but he continued to play by ear. He is from Kentucky.
Musical career
Jenkees became enthusiastic about FL Studio after a friend introduced him to it. From about 2003, he began releasing beats and raps online under the name “Big Cheez”. Under this name, he produced the 2005 album Straight Laced by Fish. In 2006, Jenkees started posting videos on YouTube to entertain people, but he later began posting music-related videos. Jenkees felt that the “goofiness” he showed helped him “not feel like such a show-off”. One example would be the video in which Ronald shows people “How to snap your fingers the cool way”. His videos tended to feature him wearing a hat and greeting his viewers with “Hello Youtubes”. His videos gradually gained popularity, and saw a boom in popularity when Bill Simmons from ESPN.com advertised Jenkees and asked him to record his podcast theme. In 2007, Jenkees independently released his first studio album, Ronald Jenkees. In June 2009, Jenkees was featured on the STS9 album, “Peaceblaster: The New Orleans Make It Right Remixes,” producing a remix of “Beyond Right Now”.
On July 31, 2009, Jenkees announced via his Twitter account that he had released his second album, Disorganized Fun, on his website. It is currently available on the iTunes Store, in MP3 format and physical compact discs.
Style
Jenkees creates a variety of music ranging from techno to Rock and Roll using pianos, keyboards, and various PC-controlled electronic synthesizers. He also writes and produces rap. Due to Jenkees recent ascension into Internet popularity, it is difficult (and perhaps even irrevlevant) to identify his style in terms of conventional geographic or cultural reference points. His music (a post-modern collage of popular music since 1970) is well-matched with the diversity permitted by the medium (the Internet, particularly YouTube) he has used to reach his audience. His clever use of keyboard and synthesizer voices adds a variety of other instruments into his sound. For instance, in “Guitar Sound” from his second album “Disorganized Fun” the lead instrument is played on keyboard as usual, but convincingly mimics the sound of electric guitar. This produces a unique interpretation of the rock ‘n’ roll genre, but at around 3:15 of the same track, he switches to more electronic sounding voices and shifts the song into a techno or trance influenced rock opera. In some of his YouTube videos he employs a harmonica for his slower tempo songs.

But flying these aircrafts requires a lot of skill, gained after much experience in flying other slower models, of which there are many to choose from. And if the adrenalin is getting the better of you it’s better to keep it in control as it is always better to work your way up to advanced RC airplanes rather than jumping into the deep end of Electric RC Jets or Gas ones with no or little training only ending in losing your prized expensive beautiful RC Jet on its first flight.

Setting up a website on Ubuntu Linux Server 8.10?
OK, so I have a domain registered with DynDNS, along with the Dynamic DNS service. I also have a clean install of Ubuntu Linux Server 8.10 on my machine that will be my server. All options (SQL, etc.) have been installed and network autoconfigure was successful during installation. I am now at the admin@ubuntu:~$ prompt.
What I want to do now is set it up to accept incoming connections for my site, and run phpBB3 message boards on it too.
This is my first time using a Unix command prompt so naturally i am a little lost going in cold.
I would advise using the gui tools if you are new to this. You will need to set up port forwarding on your router to your machine. You will need to be very careful not to leave too much open in the server firewall. I would also advise starting with a plain web site, do NOT allow anyone more than viewing access until you see that the server works correctly. Your httpd.conf will need carefully setting up, and you will need to have a good security system in place, there are so many attacks on internet servers now. Your php.ini will need configuring too.

Radio controlled helicopters are real fun devices to have. A perfect hobby for those who love flying. With all the modern software’s and gadgets today it’s become even easier to start flying your radio controlled helicopter. First of all you need to get a simulator that teaches you how to fly your radio controlled helicopter. This is a windows based program and can be plugged into the USB ports with an interlinked transmitter.
Its better you learn using this program before you get a model of your own .It helps you reduce or rather avoid any crashes. The next thing you have to do after you are sure of your flying abilities is getting yourself a helicopter. You have two basic categories to choose from – Nitro or an electric. These equipments include your servos, gyros, transmitters, tail blades, main blades, paddles and field equipments. Your transmitter has to have at least six channels. You can try the new Spread Spectrum available from companies like Futaba. This works on 24 GHz and it does not interfere with any other radio systems, so you don’t have to worry about any interference. This transmitter will cost you around $350 to $500, but it’s definitely worth an investment because you can use this for a lifetime. Next coming to your servos.
Servos are actually devices that convert the electrical signals into mechanical actions. The servo that you get depends on the type of model you have. Generally all models require four servos, one to control the tail rotor pitch and three to control the swash plate. You will need three similar servos for the swash plates and a high speed one for the tail rotor. A gyro is necessary to control the tail rotor. You can get both the servos and the gyros for around $250.Anothe device needed is the blades which are usually available in the kit, but if they are not you can choose from wooden, fiberglass and carbon fiber blades. Next you will need your field equipment which includes the glow igniter, starter wand and motor and a fuel pump. All these items are sold in a kit and can be purchased easily depending again on your model.
Owning a radio controlled helicopter can be a lot of fun but learning how to fly one takes a lot of patience and hard work. It’s a skill game.
